Wellness over illness

“If you do not make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.” – Unknown

There is so much truth to this.  One way or another, now or later, your time and most likely your money will be required to deal with illness or dysfunction.   By taking action now, you can prevent or, at a minimum, diminish the impact, physically and even possibly financially, of future health issues.

It is NEVER too late to start focusing on your wellness, so why not now?  No step is too small and no effort too insignificant as long as they keep you moving forward on your journey to wellness.

You do not have to do this alone!  I can help!

A personalized yoga practice can address many of the ailments that have the potential to impact future function such as balance, strength, posture, and mobility.  The more effort you put in now the more benefit you will find later.  Through consistency you can take the lead on your journey to wellness and have the tools to make continued progress throughout your life.

Mindful movements, such as those done as part of a yoga practice, can have significant impact on improving your awareness of sensations in your body and on your ability to tap into your body’s built in stability system through proprioception.

Proprioception, as defined by Oxford Languages, is the “perception or awareness of the position and movement of the body.”  Proprioception influences your balance and posture through all of your movements throughout your daily life and allows you to feel steady and coordinated with these movements.   Keeping this system active and engaged throughout your lifetime can decrease your chances of having issues with balance and falling as you age.

Through yoga, you will develop a deeper connection to and understanding of your body.  By cultivating this connection and understanding, you will become more in tune with the subtle signals of your body and how to address them to best serve your goals and desires.  Many people have difficulty differentiating between sensations like muscle tension, muscle fatigue, joint restriction, and pain.  Slowly and mindfully moving through postures in a yoga practice and actively discussing what you feel in each will allow us to develop and continue to progress your personal practice to best address your needs and nurture your connection to and understanding of your own body.

Making an effort to focus on your wellness is not easy but it is definitely worth it.  The return on investment is priceless.  Your future self will thank you.
